Last night, Hollywood was dealt another blow when one of the last surviving members of the Golden Age died, Lauren Bacall. Oddly enough, she was also the last surviving member of the actors and actresses name-dropped in Madonna’s iconic track “Vogue.”

That strange tid-bit has been going around the web since late last night, when news of Bacall’s death broke. Twitter user Marci Robin is being credited for pointing this fact out and her tweet has been retweeted over 370 times.

Slate published the fill list of names Madonna mentions in her monologue in the song, about all the famous faces that can make the cover of a magazine. Many had died before the song was released in March 1990, but most were still living, including Greta Garbo, who hadn’t made a movie since 1941. Garbo died just months later in September 1990.

Madonna’s song cemented the singer’s status as a pop superstar and the track was a tribute to the glamorous faces that were on magazine covers. With Bacall gone, it really does mark the end of an era we will never see again.
