Miley Cyrus’ NBC special could cost the network a pretty penny if the FCC decides to punish them for airing her alleged lewd on-stage antics.
Miley Cyrus: Bangerez Tour featured Cyrus and her usual eyebrow-raising moves, such as twerking and grinding on her dancers.
Fox News reports the FCC is now investigating complaints, which include one viewer complaining it was “borderline pornographic.”
However, NBC likely knew exactly what they were getting into when airing Cyrus’ special and may be prepared to face any consequences.
Rolling Stone obtained some of the complaints, which feature angry parents writing “why would they choose to air a highly controversial 'pop star' who freely advertises that her songs are all about sex and drugs, who wears costumes that would perhaps be more appropriate if she were dancing on a pole in some club somewhere?” and “This was jokingly rated as PG-13/TV-14 and that simply cannot be correct.”
Cyrus is no stranger to FCC complaints; her 2013 MTV VMA performance featuring her grinding on Robin Thicke received plenty.
