The Minnesota Vikings and former Punter Chris Kluwe have reached a settlement in a defamation suit.
Kluwe was planning on suing the Vikings for $10 million after the team did not release their investigation into assistant coach Mike Priefer’s alleged homophobic comments that Kluwe brought to the team.
Kluwe’s lawyer, Clayton Halunen told USA Today, that Kluwe and the Vikings will announce the terms of the settlement to the public in a press conference next week.
Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf said in a statement, that his family has always been supportive of gay rights and marriage equality.
“We are glad a resolution of this matter has been reached, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to create a positive awareness of these issues.”
Preifer was suspended for the first three games of this season and he has to give $100,000 to LGBT charities and organizations, according to CBS Sports.
Kluwe, who is pro-gay rights, was released in 2013. He alleges that this was the reason he was released, while the Vikings say it was a pure football move.
