Since we reported the departure of Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy and the re-addition of Rosie O'Donnell to The View's panel, ABC has been also vetting candidates to find a suitable replacement for another departed co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. According to
Because the show's only two permanent co-hosts are O'Donnell and Goldberg the show has a leftward slant. A source told Fox News that the executives at ABC are trying to make the right decision. “They’re desperately looking...After last season, they can’t afford to make a mistake and really need to find the person who will bring spark back into the show," the source said.
Executive producer and former host Barbara Walters expressed her feelings on having a conservative voice in an interview with Variety shortly before her retirement. "We need a conservative voice..We do try to present a different side,” she said.
Several names have been thrown around for a new conservative host to fill the seat vacated by Elisabeth Hasselbeck. These names include S.E. Cupp of CNN Crossfire fame and even Sarah Palin has been mentioned.
ABC has also brought on the former producer of MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show, Bill Wolff, as executive producer to replace co-creator Bill Geddie. Fox News' source reports that the staff is happy with this decision and looks forward to what Wolff will bring to the show.
