We open on Jared and Peter addressing the other lawyers at the firm, that productivity is down by 8%. Peter than throws a football to Lisa, a fellow lawyer and she explains how she’s representing a surfer who is seeking prize money and damages by suing because another surfer “stole” his wave to win a competition. She throws the football back and Jared then throws it to another female lawyer who drops it. Then, a male lawyer, Ed starts talking and Peter reminds him of their policy of how you can only talk while holding the football. Ed says that Peter is talking without holding the football so Jared orders the both to run laps around the office as punishment. All of the other lawyers seem amused until Infeld walks in and they immediately quiet down. Infeld asks what’s going on and the guys reply that they didn’t expect him back so soon. Infeld then apologizes for being late and says it was because someone parked in his space. Suddenly, another male lawyer rushes out the room, presumably to move his car. The guys then explain some of the changes since Infeld was away like the firm’s Instagram account, where the lawyers post selfies. Infeld is more interested in talking about the new case they were about to discuss. The guys say that the plaintiff wants to sue because a “sleep medication triggered an illicit late-night shopping spree, of which he has no memory of. Now he wants to sue the makers of the pill, Twilera, for the purchases he cannot return.’” The guys ask the lawyers who wants the case, but no one volunteers. Peter then asks where Ellen is and Jared says that he thinks she’s in a deposition, so they give her the case. Jared then asks Infeld if he’s like to address the other lawyers. Infeld replies that he’d rather share his thoughts in private. Jared then adjourns the meeting.
Once alone with Infeld, the guys ask him if he’s mad at them. Infeld replies that you can’t “run a successful firm on pizza parties and skateboards.” Infeld then adds that if they want to be on top again, they have to refine their approach. The guys then ask Infeld to lunch. Infeld declines saying that he a ton of emails to catch up on and shoos the guys away.
The guys bump into Dan, the new investigator. He tells them that a Jimmy Livardos, a Wunder driver, who knows them from picking them outside of bars. The name doesn’t ring a bell with the guys. Dan then adds that Jimmy says he was arrested for “conspiring to steal handbags from celebrities.”
The guys meet with Jimmy, who insists that the whole thing was a “misunderstanding.” He explains that he drove a passenger to an art gallery. He says that he dropped her off and the next thing he knew his car was surrounded by cops with their guns drawn. Jared replies that a concierge at a hotel took Jimmy’s license plate number after Gwyneth Paltrow’s purse went missing and then Jared shows Johnny pictures from the surveillance camera that caught Jimmy and his passenger leaving with the bag. Peter then adds that bags have been stolen at other places Jimmy has been. Jimmy denies stealing any bags and tells the guys to talk to his passenger, Kim Polito. Jared then tells Jimmy that Kim Polito doesn’t exist, that they pulled the police report and found that she used a fake PayPal account. The guys think “Kim” set Jimmy up, but he doesn’t think saying they were “vibing off each other.” Peter then tells Jimmy that he’s looking at 10 years in prison for grand theft. Jimmy replies that when he picked up the guys a few weeks ago, they promised to help him if was ever in trouble. The guys agree to help Jimmy.
Ellen is hearing what happened with the sleeping pill case from the guys and how the plaintiff ordered a dominatrix named Fantasia while he was on Twilera. He then tried to call it off, but forgot the “safe word,” so she tied him up and “poured wax down his crack” and proclaimed that services were rendered. Ellen then asks if they want her to go after Twilera because Fantasia won’t provide a refund. Ellen doesn’t want the case and tells the guys to give it to Anita. Then, she sees the plaintiff, Bob Allen, who is a gorgeous masseuse. Ellen says she’ll take the case.
In court with Jimmy, the prosecution presents an affidavit from the concierge at an event Jimmy was at saying that he “was socializing with his passenger.” The guys reply that Jimmy was invited inside the event so he wouldn’t have to wait in the car. The prosecution shoots back that Jimmy was dancing with the passenger. The guys then site Jimmy’s “five-star rating with Wunder,” but the prosecution then adds that Jimmy’s phone’s GPS showed his car parked outside a closed pawn shop and that he and his passenger were trying to fence the items they stole. The judge rules the evidence admissible then adjourns the court. The prosecuting attorney then tells the guys to “forget about a plea deal. I’m going after you with both barrels.”
Outside court, Jimmy claims that he just got lost. The guys sight Jimmy’s photographic memory and then Jimmy tells them that “the whole night is a blur.” The guys wonder if his passenger slipped something into his drink, but Jimmy replies that he never drinks during his shifts. Jared then says they will have to find Jimmy’s “mystery girl and get her to tell the truth.”
At the beach house, Jared is checking his phone for texts. Peter asks if he’s worried about Ellen and Bob, but Jared says that Bob isn’t her type. Dan comes in and tells the guys that he looked into if a celebrity got Jimmy’s mystery girl into the events. If so, the paparazzi would recognize a familiar face. Dan then found pictures of the girl at two separate events that had the same photographer. Jared and Peter then told Dan that they have an extra room.
At the firm, Jared goes to see Ellen to tell her that Anita is a better fit for the Twilera case. Ellen replies that it has turned into a big case that even Karp wants a piece of. She adds that she learned that Twilera has elicited odd behavior in other people and she’s going for a $6 million class action suit. Yet, Jared still pushes for a settlement. He then adds that Bob’s Toxicology screen came back saying that Bob had Benzo in his system so the prosecution will paint him as a “pill popper.” Ellen thinks he’s jealous of Bob, which he denies saying that he’s just looking out for the welfare of the firm. Ellen then says other tests showed that Twilera affected Bob 12 hours after ingestion. Then, Bob shows up with Cronuts and Jared leaves.
Jared, Peter and Infeld go to lunch. The establishment’s owner, Dominic, gives them a table by the bathroom. The guys demand that Dominic show Infeld some respect, but Infeld tells the guys to let it go and that the table is fine. Infeld then notices that his caricature has been replaced by Mike Tyson’s. Dominic continues with the insults and Infeld replies that he should just refuse them service. Dominic replies, “I’m surprised it took you so long to take the hint.” Infeld then decks Dominic.
Outside, Infeld apologizes to the guys for losing his cool and says that his image damaged the firm. Then, Dominic appears and tells Infeld that he “sucker punched the wrong guy. You shouldn’t have stolen Madeline.” Infeld replies that was over 20 years ago. Dominic then demands that Infeld pay him $100,000 in 24 hours or he goes to the police. After Dominic leaves, Jared thinks that if he goes to the police, it could hurt Infeld’s reinstatement to the Bar. Infeld replies that he can survive prison, but he must have his dignity. Infeld wants to sell one of the firm’s valuable possession’s, but the guys inform him that they had to sell it to pay for his last batch of legal fees. Infeld can’t believe that they’re out of options.
The guys go to speak to the company that supplied the photographer for the two events Jimmy’s mystery girl was photographed at. Peter tells the owner that they want to ask the photographer if he’s crossed paths with the girl and they show her the girl’s picture. The owner says her name is Sadie Javonen and she was in charge of gifting for the company. They select certain celebrities to give free dresses, accessories, etc. from their designers. She then adds that she fired Sadie a month ago. They then ask if she has Sadie’s address. The owner asks if she’s in trouble and Peter replies that Sadie did some personal shopping for one of their clients and they’re handling the returns. The owner goes to ask her assistant if she knows her address. She comes back and tells the guys that she’s “crashing on a friend’s couch in WeHo.”
Back at the firm, Peter notices that Ellen is all dressed up and looking good. She tells him that she’s “trying to bait Bob with dinner at the Grill.” Peter questions her motives and asks if she’s trying to make Jared jealous. She replies that she’d only try to make someone jealous if she liked them and she doesn’t like Jared. Peter clearly doesn’t believe her. Ellen moves to leave, but not before Peter tells her that the firm cannot afford to splurge on fancy dinners. She then tells him that Karp invited Bob somewhere upscale. Peter gives in but tells her not to go overboard in her ordering.
Jared is with Dan when he sees Ellen and Bob by the elevators. Dan infers that Ellen and Bob’s relationship is “blossoming.” Jared then asks him if knows something he doesn’t. Dan replies that he can look into the matter further if Jared wants. Jared declines the offer to spy on Ellen, but Dan replies that he’s going to do it anyway.
The guys go to see Sadie. They introduce themselves and mention the handbags she stole. Sadie maintains that her name is Emma and that the guys must have the wrong address. The guys apologize and say they’ll just wait for the cops. Sadie then asks them why she should talk to them. Peter says it’s because the cops will be there any minute and then she’s going to need a lawyer. Peter then adds that they will represent her pro bono, in exchange for her testimony saying that Jimmy had nothing to do with the stolen bags. The cops arrive. Sadie tells the guys that she can’t go to jail and asks the guys if they can really help her. The cops come and arrest Sadie, but she then says that Jimmy made her steal the bags.
At the beach house, the guys tell Jimmy how Sadie is saying that the thefts were all his idea and that he was in charge. Jimmy is mad at himself for being such an idiot. The guys then tell him that the good news is that her testimony won’t be admissible because “all statements from one co-dependent to the other are inadmissible,” Peter says. Jimmy then tells the guys that he could have been just a simple cab driver, but he joined Wunder because “you share your car, you share your life and she’s going to take it all away from me.” The guys then say that the jury will see that he’s a guy with a big heart that got him into big trouble.
At the firm, the guys and Infeld meet with Dominic and his lawyer. Peter slides over an envelope with a counter offer they think will satisfy Dominic. Dominic opens the envelope and it’s empty. Peter then adds that since Dominic threatened to go to the police if Infeld didn’t pay him, that’s extortion, which is illegal. Dominic fires back that so is assault. Infeld tells Dominic that he “caught me on a bad day. Your insults ignited my pent-up emotions, but thanks to you I’ve worked them out.” Dominic still maintains that Infeld still “shows no remorse for your arrogant behavior over the years.” Dominic then reiterates that Infeld shouldn’t have stolen Madeline, “her engine was a masterpiece.” Peter can’t believe they were talking about a car. Dominic adds that Infeld outbid him when he knew Dominic wanted the car. Infeld then dares Dominic to punch him. Dominic moves to do so, but Peter stops him. Infeld then tells Peter to let Dominic punch him. Peter then asks Dominic, “One free punch, then we’re even?” Dominic agrees. Peter then says it has to be “on the down low” because there would be too many witnesses if they did it there. Infeld and Dominic agree and shake hands on it.
Dan comes to Peter and Jared’s office saying that he has info on Ellen. Peter is surprised that Jared had Dan spy on Ellen. Jared maintains that he didn’t, but Dan says he “accepted his wink,” which to him meant to go ahead and spy on her. Dan found other law firm’s business cards in Bob’s car when he valet parked. The guys think he’s going to go to another firm.
The guys go to Infeld to ask him to call Bob so he knows that “the emperor” is behind his case so they don’t lose him as a client. Infeld agrees to do so. Infeld then asks the guys to hit him when he least expects it in preparation for Dominic’s punch. “Nothing toughens a man quite like the element of surprise,” Infeld tells them.
The guys then go to see Ellen in her office to tell her that they’ve learned that the Twilera case “may be more substantial than we expected.” Peter adds the every big name firm is going after it. Ellen replies that those firms “wine and dine potential clients with expense accounts 10 times our payroll.” Jared then tells Ellen to do whatever it takes to keep Bob as a client. Ellen agrees to do so. Ellen then leaves her office and Peter tells Jared that “you just gave her the green light to bang Bob.” Jared doesn’t think so. Peter repeats Jared’s wording to Ellen and then he says that he “didn’t mean it like that.”
In court, the guys tell Jimmy to “play it cool” when Sadie enters the courtroom. He replies that he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction. Then, Sadie enters the courtroom. Jimmy and Sadie start chatting like they’re friends and the guys remind him that she’s the “enemy.” The guys then make a motion to strike Sadie’s testimony with the co-dependent argument. Sadie’s lawyer objects saying that Sadie pled guilty earlier that morning. Jimmy asks what that means and the guys tell him that she can now say whatever she wants on the stand. The judge then adjourns the court for the day. Jimmy then asks the guys if they think he still has a shot with Sadie. Jared has to hold Peter back from slapping Jimmy. The guys say that he’s sending mixed messages by still wanting a chance with Sadie. When she comes back into the courtroom to get her jacket, Jimmy can’t stop talking about the way she smells. Jared replies that the judge won’t buy that Jimmy was distracted by Sadie, but what if he was drugged?
The guys meet Infeld and Dominic at a warehouse. They look over the “fight contract” to make sure that everything is in order. Infeld asks Dominic to punch him directly in the face. Dominic won’t agree to that so Infeld just wants to sign the contract and get the whole thing over with. They both sign the contract. Then, Mike Tyson appears and Dominic says that he’s “invoking his right for a substitute hitter.” The guys are jazzed to meet Tyson and tell him what big fans they are of his. He thanks them. Infeld gets mad since Tyson is there to “destroy me.” Dominic then says that the contract doesn’t state who delivers the punch. Infeld then calls Dominic “a coward.” Then, Tyson punches Infeld in the stomach and he goes down. Jared then goes to hit Tyson but stops. This angers Tyson, who says that he was just doing a friend a favor. Tyson then leaves in a huff. Jared apologizes, but Tyson ignores him as he and Dominic leave. Infeld, meanwhile, gets up off the floor and says that he thinks his “diaphragm exploded.” Yet, the guys leave Infeld to go and try to snag a picture of Tyson.
Back in court, Peter calls Dr. Garth, a toxicologist to the stand. Sadie’s lawyer objects saying that Dr. Garth wasn’t on the witness list. Jared replies that he was a late addition to the list, which they supplied late the previous night. The judge asks why she should make an exception and allow Dr. Garth to take the stand. Peter reiterates the prosecution’s contention that given Jimmy’s excellent sense of direction, it’s implausible that he got lost and ended up in front of the pawn shop. Jared then says that Dr. Garth will help them prove that Jimmy lost his sense of direction because he was drugged. The prosecution then says that the police report made no mention of drug-related behavior. Jared then says that he has nothing to lose by allowing the witness. The judge then allows Dr. Garth to take the stand. On the stand, Dr. Garth says that being intoxicated can present itself in a “myriad of ways.” Peter asks Dr. Garth to demonstrate the use of a device that detects drugs by detecting pupil reaction times, on Jimmy. Dr. Garth says that the device says that Jimmy is drug-free. Peter has no further questions. The prosecution then asks the relevance of the test and say that they have no questions. Jared then calls Jimmy to the stand. Jimmy testifies to his photographic memory for directions and knowledge of the Harris Road Atlas. Jared gives Jimmy a location and he gives the exact coordinates from the Atlas. The prosecution says it needs a GPS to verify. Jared then gives the coordinates where Jimmy got lost with Sadie outside a pawn shop. Jared then says that he has no further questions and then calls Sadie to the stand. Jimmy inhales her perfume as she enters the courtroom. He then looks dazed and then Jared says he has one more question for Jimmy and asks him what is on a specific page of the Atlas. Jimmy’s now confused and can’t remember. Jared then asks the judge to allow Dr. Garth to re-test Jimmy’s pupils for drugs. The judge allows it. This time, Dr. Garth says that Jimmy’s pupil dilation is the same as someone high on opiates. Jared then notes that the only thing that’s changed since Jimmy’s first test is Sadie coming into the room.
Back at the firm, the guys are shooting darts at a target in their office. Ellen comes in and tells them that Bob caught Dan going through his trash. There was a confrontation and now Bob went to Karp’s firm. Ellen then finds out that they knew Dan was snooping. Peter says that Jared wanted to know if she was hooking up with Bob. Ellen replies what a stupid move that was for the firm. Ellen then adds that bob’s “a fraud. He’s been drumming up bogus cases.” Jared then said what he did was a good thing. Ellen calls him an idiot but Jared replies that he’s an “adorable one.” Ellen fires back, “No, just an idiot.” Ellen leaves and Peter tells Jared that he thinks he’s adorable. Jared thanks him.
In court, Peter argues that Jimmy never intended to go on a crime spree and was influenced by the “power of love,” which has happened to men since Adam and Eve. He adds that Jimmy didn’t intentionally stop at the pawn shop. He got confused because he was high from Sadie drugging him with her perfume. He’s only guilty of “getting lost in love, not of these crimes.” Jimmy wins the case and says that he doesn’t know how to repay the guys. Jared says it’s payback for throwing up in his backseat. Peter then says that Sadie didn’t give truthful testimony so her deal is now gone and she’s in big trouble. Jimmy then goes over to Sadie and tells her to call Wunder and he’ll pick her up when she’s done with being in trouble. She thanks him and tells him that she had fun with him.
The guys take Infeld to their diner and he loves the food there. They then give him a welcome back gift. It’s Infeld’s caricature. They put it in a special spot in the diner. Infeld appreciates the gesture and says that it’s good to be back. The guys say that it’s good to have him back.
