Oscar winner Geena Davis has been tapped for a role in the upcoming 11th season of ABC's medical drama Grey's Anatomy.
At the moment little is known about the Accidental Tourist's role on the upcoming season, Variety reports. Davis will play a surgeon and it is said to be a major guest arc.
She previously starred on ABC's Commander in Chief back in 2005 and 2006. She recently appeared in the indie film In a World..."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davis' addition to the Shonda Rhimes series could help out following the exit of longtime star Sandra Oh.
It is believed that Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey will likely take center stage for the season, with Rhimes saying so earlier last month. "It's really a Meredith-centric season."
Rhimes added, "There's a lot of growth. She's lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else. She's got al these things going on." Meredith's mother Eliis Grey, played by Kate Burton, is also expected to return during the season.
