HBO’s hit drama True Detective will be coming out with a second season in the summer of 2015.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO programming director, Michael Lombardo revealed at the Edinburgh TV Festival that the show will start filming in September and is projected to be released next summer.

Last season followed Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey as detectives on a 17-year hunt for a cult-like serial killer, according to the show’s website. Fans of the show should not be expecting the show to continue the first season’s story line.

"It has different characters, a different setting,” Lombardo revealed. “It’s set in California, all of California. There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say. We’ll probably be announcing casting soon."

According to Paste Magazine, rumors have already begun to circulate about who will be cast in the second season. Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Elisabeth Moss are all actors rumored to be in talks to star on the show.

No matter who is cast in the second season of True Detective, Lombardo promises that this season will be even better than the last.

"When you have a success like True Detective it’s challenging… to face the page again and start afresh and not be haunted by the success of the show you’ve just done," he said. "But the writing is better than last season. It’s exceptional."
