Film director Sam Taylor-Johnson unwittingly stirred up some trouble this Thursday after a concerned pedestrian spotted a machine gun in the window of the London home she shares with actor husband Aaron Johnson.
According to Just Jared, armed police were dispatched to the couple’s home to investigate the matter after receiving a call from a worried passerby. Neither Aaron Johnson, 24, nor Sam Taylor-Johnson, 47, were home during the time of the raid.
The ordeal appeared to be a misunderstanding, as the weapon in question was actually a deactivated M16 rifle that Taylor-Johnson received as a gift from an art project commissioned by Peace One Day.
"Police were called at 23:40 hours on Thursday by a member of the public, reporting that they had seen from the street, what they thought was a firearm, sitting on a desk by the window of a property," spokesman for the Metropolitan Police told The Hollywood Reporter. “Local officers and officers from the Met’s Firearms Unit attended and were let into the property to examine the firearm. It was confirmed that the firearm was a deactivated M16 rifle."
Taylor-Johnson has most recently directed the controversial film adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey to be released in February 2015.
