Rookie Javier Baez hit two more home runs yesterday against the Colorado Rockies. He helped propel the Cubs to a road victory, and the final score was Chicago 6 and the Rockies 2.

In only three games in his young career, Beez has a total of three home runs. He is first MLB player to put up those type of numbers since Joe Cunningham did so in 1954, according to ESPN.

Chicago Cubs manager Rick Renteria spoke highly of the 21-year old prospect. He has confidence that Baez is a calm young player who is ready for the bright lights.

"He's a very poised young man and he's the type of kid when he prepares for the test he knows he's going to do well," Renteria stated. "I hope he's making believers out of a lot of people."

Baez was the spark that helped the team win two out of its last three road games. Because of his positive results after his first three games as a Cub, all eyes will be on the youngster to see what he can do for the rest of season.

The Cubs are in last place in the NL Central Division. They are 13 games out of first place, as proven by MLB.com. In order for Chicago to even have a chance at the playoffs, they would need a flawless record for the last month and a half of the season.
