While the popular BBC series Doctor Who is currently waiting for the premiere of the next Doctor, another pair of shoes are going to need filling quickly.
The Huffington Post UK reports that Jenna-Louise Coleman will be leaving her role as the Doctor’s companion in the upcoming Christmas episode, which is rumored to be an excellent exit for her character. Coleman has been in the role for 18 months making her one of the longest running companions in the show's sixty years.
“By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role, but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period,” a source told the Mirror.
While it seems that Coleman chose to quit her role, sources are saying it was a mutual decision for her departure as new companions keep the show running fast paced.
On the topic of her relationship with the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, show runner Steven Moffat is insistent that there will be no flirting as he says, “They’re great friends and all that but she has to be his human interface with everybody else.”
The new series begins August 23.
