The doctors for longtime Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly have said that they found "no evidence" of remaining cancer during his most recent evaluation.
WIBV noted that on Tuesday, Kelly and his family visited with doctors to find out if his treatments worked and received the very good news.
“There is no evidence of the cancer,” said Dr. Peter Costantino, Executive Director of the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. “The treatments so far have completely eliminated Mr. Kelly’s pain and his level of function has essentially returned to normal.”
The Hall of Fame quarterback had received radiation and chemotherapy during the last few months to treat sinus cancer.
Constantino said as wonderful as this news is though, Kelly will have to undergo more testing this week.
"I still need the prayers," Kelly told ESPN.com.
On Instagram, his wife Jill, posted that they were hopeful and encouraged by the news.
The 54-year-old played in the NFL for 11 seasons and was five-time Pro Bowler and four-time AFC champion. His number 12 jersey is the only number ever retired by the Bills.
