Sure, Katie Holmes has a lot of great things to say about making a movie with Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, but The Giver star is still asked questions about her past, especially that marriage to a certain Tom Cruise. However, Holmes doesn’t look back on that time. She’d rather look to her future opportunities.
In an interview on The Today Show Wednesday, Matt Lauer asked Holmes if she’d ever want to go back to the time she was known as a hardworking actress following Dawson’s Creek, before she became known as Mrs. Tom Cruise.
“You know what? I never really look back,” Holmes replied. “I just approach life... I take it one day at a time. I’m really excited about where I am now.” She said that she really enjoyed making The Giver and plugged another movie she has coming out called Miss Meadows.
Us Weekly notes that she also talked trying her best to give Suri, her daughter with Cruise, a normal life. “Of course you try your best,” she said. “I try very hard because I'm very grateful for my upbringing, my parents, my siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one.”
Holmes was married to Cruise from 2006 to 2012. Their daughter, Suri, is 8-years-old.
The Giver, based on the Lois Lowry book, is out on Aug. 15.
