Keanu Reeves is the latest movie star jumping to television in an effort to save his career. The once-hot actor best known for Point Break, The Matrix and other ‘90s hits, has joined an action series called Rain.

The series is based on Barry Eisler’s best selling books and will be the first TV project for Slingshot Global Media, reports Deadline, which first reported the casting news on Tuesday. Slingshot was founded by David Ellender, the former FremantleMedia chief.

Reeves will also produce the series with Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. Eisler is also on as a producer. No writer is attached yet. After they find one, Slingshot will start shopping it around to networks.

Rain will be Reeves’ first regular TV gig. The actor was recently seen in Universal's 47 Ronin, which was a flop domestically and hammered by critics It cost an estimated $175 million to make, but grossed just $150 million globally.

Reeves’ next movie is John Wick, which comes out in October. Leitch and Stahelski co-directed the film, so clearly Reeves enjoyed working with them.
