Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant has decided to withdraw from Team USA and won't play in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
The decision is said not to be fallout from the gruesome injury fellow Team USA player Paul George suffered last week, but rather due to exhaustion.
"This was an extremely difficult decision as I take great pride in representing our country," KD said in a statement, USA Today reports. "I know that I owe it to my USA Basketball teammates to be totally invested in the experience. After going through training camp with USAB, I realized I could not fulfill my responsibilities to the team both from a time and energy standpoint."
He added that he would be rooting for the team as he took the time to rest both mentally and physically before the 2014-15 NBA season.
The team that eventually will be fielded will be different from the one people expected early on after Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love pulled out previously, notes CBS Sports.
The team also lost George after he broke his leg during a scrimmage game while trying to stop teammate James Harden from scoring.
