Manchester City of the English Premier League has announced the signing of Eliaquim Mangala from Porto in the Portuguese soccer league.

Manchester City reportedly paid Porto £32 million for Mangala, according to the Daily Mail.

Mangala told Manchester City that he think moving the Manchester City will help himself grow.

“City is a top club in Europe. For me, it was an important step to leave Porto and join Manchester City in order to continue my progress. I want to win titles and I believe I can do this. I am ambitious this is why I am here.

Mangala started his career with Standard Liege in Belgium where he won a league title and cup. Porto signed him as a 20-year old after four-years with his Belgian Club.

While with Porto, he won the 2012-2013 Portuguese league title and played in the Champions League, but failed to advance out of the first round.

Mangala made the French National team for this year’s World Cup, but did not appear in a game.

He will join former teammate Fernando from Porto on Manchester City.
