Actress Marilyn Burns, best known for her role in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has died at the age of 65 in her home near Houston, Texas.
Burns appeared as lone survivor Sally Hardesty in Tobe Hooper classic film. She then reunited with Hooper in 1977 and starred in Eaten Alive. She then had cameos in the 1994 and 2003 remakes of Chainsaw.
"It is with sad news that I can officially confirm that actress Marilyn Burns passed away earlier today. She was found unresponsive by a family member this morning in her Houston, TX area home. Her family asks for privacy at this time. Further details will be released later,” her rep told The Hollywood Reporter.
Her death was first reported by TMZ, which confirmed the Houston Medical Examiner's Office had her body and would be performing an autopsy. As of now, the cause of Burns’ death is not known.
Some of Burns’ other film roles include Kiss Daddy Goodbye and Future-Kill in 1981 and 1985, respectively.
