Bryan Singer can now breathe a sigh of relief as his accuser has dropped his sexual abuse lawsuit against the X-Men: Days of Future Past director.

Michael Egan voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against Singer and a federal judge granted the motion on Wednesday, Variety reports. Both lawsuits against the director are now closed.

The case against Singer floundered after Egan lost both his attorneys for the case, his original one and the replacement. In late july, Jeff Herman announced he would no longer represent his client after Egan refused a $100,000 settlement offer.

As the situation continued to spiral out of control for Egan, Singer hit his accuser with a malicious prosecution lawsuit in August. Process servers had a difficult time tracking down Egan, but eventually managed to locate him in a Las Vegas casino and serve him in a men's bathroom.

Egan accused the X-Men director back in April, with Herman by his side then, in a press conference where he accused Singer of sexual abuse in Hawaii in the 1990s. He also accused several other Hollywood executives, before eventually dismissing those over the following months.

Marty Singer, the director's non-relation lawyer, has called the case against his client as nothing more than "an attempted shakedown."
