Miley Cyrus is currently working on her next album and took the chance to speak about it on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Sunday evening.

According to E! News, Cyrus apparently told longtime MTV persona, Sway, that finishing up this next album could take a while. "This record might take me five years," she said. Sorry, Miley fans! It looks like you’ll have to wait to hear some of her new stuff!

As for the feel of the record, Cyrus told Sway, “it’s a little psychedelic, but still in that pop world.” The 21-year-old pop princess is reportedly working on the next body of work with musical pals The Flaming Lips in order to change up her sound.

Cyrus is apparently in no hurry to finish up new music anytime soon. “I’ll just work on it until I’m done,” she said when pushed further for a more specific time frame.

In other Miley Cyrus news, the star has been recently banned from performing in the Dominican Republic for committing “acts that go against morals and customs.”
