Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and boyfriend Matt Prokop have reportedly split up after five years together.
Sources spoke exclusively with Us Weekly and revealed that their break up was amicable. "Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out," a source said. "She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends."
The 23-year-old actress, who came to Monday night's Emmy Awards alone, met the 24-yeear-old Prokop back in 2008 when she went in to audition for High School Musical 3: Senior Year. The couple later even starred together in the Disney Channel Original Movie Geek Charming.
The couple always appeared quite close, with Hyland previously telling Seventeen magazine that he was with her as she dealt with kidney transplant surgery two years ago because of kidney dysplasia.
"He helps me with my medication and takes me to the doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself," the TV actress told the magazine. "I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me."
The split comes at a good-ish time for Hyland as she is celebrating Modern Family's Emmy Award win for best comedy series.
