A To Z, a new NBC sitcom, doesn’t premiere until October, but the pilot is already online to watch. While pilots streaming online early to drum up audience support is nothing new, the peacock network chose a unique venue to launch the series.
NBC teamed with Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio to stream an extended version of the pilot, which is available already. According to Deadline, the partnership should help NBC reach the show’s target demographic - millennials. It should also highlight the importance of music in the show, which has Alexandra Patsavas (Gossip Girl, The Hunger Games) serving as music supervisor.
Clear Channel has also agreed to plug A To Z and Ryan Seacrest will talk about it during his syndicated show.
A To Z is supposed to track a single relationship from the start to finish. The couple is played by Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother) and Ben Feldman (Mad Men). The pilot will also be available on NBC sites and apps, as well as Hulu. It was produced by Warner Bros. TV with Rashida Jones among the executive producers.
It will debut on NBC on Oct. 2.
