The University of New Mexico football team has reinstated two players after their charges of raping and kidnapping a woman were dropped.

According to the Albuquerque News Journal, running back Crusoe Gongbay and cornerback SaQwan Edwards and another former student Ryan Ruff where arrested in late April, after a woman said she was raped by three men in a BMW.

The charges were dismissed in June, but the District Attorney’s office in Bernalillo County said charges could be refilled if new evidence came up, according to the AP.

The lawyer who was representing the woman in the case told the Albuquerque Journal that charges would not be filed again. The lawyer also said that he believes the woman was given a date-rape drug.

Gongbay is a senior; last year he had 592 rushing yards on just 97 carries. He was the team’s third leading rusher last season.

Edwards is also a senior. Last season, he had 42 tackles, one interception and three fumble recoveries, which led the team.
