Nick Cannon’s father, James Cannon, a preacher, is commenting on his son’s split from wife of six years, Mariah Carey.
James had nothing but nice things to say about the “I Will Always Love You” singer, calling her an “angel” and denying that she ever exhibited any “diva” behavior around the family.
“Were temptations ever there with other women? Not for Nick, he genuinely loved the married life . . . But did that stop other women coming to him? Probably not,” he told Page Six.
The America’s Got Talent host confirmed their separation last week, saying they’ve been living apart for a few months now.
Cannon’s father believes if they had worked together instead of separately it could’ve saved their marriage and strengthened their bond.
“If Nick could have somehow ran her business, or worked in conjunction with her, they would have been such a power couple in Hollywood,” he said. “It’s difficult, but look at Beyoncé and Jay Z.”
He also thinks the couple need to “stick this out,” blaming their entourages for “pulling them” in different directions.
