Four starters on Notre Dame's football team have reportedly been shown the door over academic fraud allegations.

The four dismissals came after the school wrapped up an internal investigation into the matter, sources have told Fox Sports.

Receiver DaVaris Daniels, linebacker Kendall Moore, DL Ishaq Williams and DB KeiVarae Russell have been kicked out of Notre Dame and it isn't yet known if they will be given a chance to return sometime in the future.

Last season quarterback Everett Golson was dismissed after he cheated on a test. He has since returned to the school and the football team where he has been tapped to start instead of redshirt freshman Malik Zaire.

According to sources who spoke with Yahoo Sports, the academic fraud investigation also is looking into non-athletes. The source said the situation might be an "honor code violation."

Should that be the case, it could result in vacated victories for Notre Dame should the players have been deemed ineligible as a result of the fraud. Notre Dame investigated itself, with the NCAA kept apprised of the situation.
