The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded center Hasheem Thabeet to the Philadelphia 76ers. The trade was announced on Tuesday.

The Thunder will also give the 76ers cash considerations in addition to sending them Thabeet. In return the Thunder will get a protected second-round draft pick for 2015 and a trade exception. They have one year to use the trade exception. Thabeet is expected to be waived by the 76ers immediately and the trade exception is worth $1.25 million, according to ESPN, which first reported the trade.

Thabeet, who is from Tanzania, was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009. In addition to the Grizzlies and the Thunder he has also played for the Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 1.2 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game and shot 56.5 percent from the field and 20 percent from the free throw line in 23 games with the Thunder last season, according to Sports Illustrated. In 2012 he played in 66 games and averaged a block per game. Thabeet has averaged 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks while shooting 56.7 percent from the field and 57.8 percent from the free throw line in his five years in the NBA.

Thabeet had his playing time reduced last season as Steven Adams has become the backup center. He should get more playing time with the 76ers.
