Singer Patti LaBelle is the latest addition to the upcoming fall season of FX's anthology series, now going by the name American Horror Story: Freaks.
LaBelle has been tapped to appear in four episodes as the mother of returning actress Gabourey Sidibe's character, according to TVLine, who first reported the casting.
A source says that LaBelle's character is a local townsperson who begins investigating the secrets behind the Twisty the clown killer. Also, her character will reportedly not sing on AHS: Freaks.
The fourth iteration of the horror series is set in the 1950s in Florida at one of the last freak shows. Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts and Evan Peters return and Angela Bassett and Michael Chiklis also appear.
Executive producer Tim Minear revealed at Comic-Con late last month that Zodiac actor John Carroll Lynch would be playing the main villain for the season.
Minear said Lynch's character is "a villain who will rival the rubber man and the minotaur from previous seasons." He also added, "he will scare the sh-- out of you."
American Horror Story: Freaks will premiere this fall on FX.
