The Philadelphia Phillies will lose pitcher Cliff Lee to the disabled list for at least two weeks after he re-injured his left elbow.
According to MLB.com, Lee was pitching against the Washington Nationals when he left during the third inning.
Earlier this year, Lee strained his same elbow and missed two months.
Lee appeared to be pitching fine in his third start after coming back. The first seven batters he faced ended up getting out, according to ESPN.
When Lee was asked if he was done for the year he responded with, “At this point, that’s probably the case.”
Lee was one of the pitchers Philadelphia was trying to trade before the MLB trade deadline, but didn’t get any good offers. The Phillies will now have to pay $37.5 million after this season.
This season, Lee was 4-5 with a 3.65 ERA in 13 games started, according to ESPN Stats.
The Phillies called up Cesar Jimenez for Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take over Lee’s roster spot.
