St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford will reportedly miss the 2014 NFL regular season after he retore his ACL.
NFL.com reported Sunday that league sources said that Bradford had an MRI, along with other tests, which concluded that he tore his ACL and will be out for the entire season.
SB Nation noted that the injury occurred after he was hit by Cleveland Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant during Saturday’s preseason game.
The injury is the same one that sidelined Bradford for the final nine games of the season last year.
The Rams will have to make a decision if the 26-year-old, who will be coming off back-to-back ACL tears next season, is the team’s long term answer. He is due to make between $12 and $13 million base salary in 2015.
For now, it looks as though the team will be turning to backup QB Shaun Hill. However, the Philadelphia Eagles have a guy that may be of interest in Mark Sanchez. The plus side for St. Louis to go after Sanchez would be that he previously played under offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and would likely be able to learn the system quickly.
The Rams and coach Jeff Fisher are scheduled to hold a press conference at 6:30 p.m.
