The Weezer frontman and the creator of USA Network's popular and recently concluded comedy series Psych have teamed up for a series over at Fox.

Rivers Cuomo and Steve Franks pitched DeTour to Fox, who gave the single-camera comedy series a put-order, Variety reports. Franks will executive produce with Cuomo, band manager Dan Field, Chris Henze and Willie Mercer.

Franks will also write the script for DeTour, which is being described as a "coming-of-age story, slightly out of order" and was inspired by the life of Cuomo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy series will follow a 30-something rock star who decides to step back from the spotlight as he worries about how he can stay successful.

DeTour will follow the character who goes back to see has been missing from his life as he made music and is meant to be an embellishment of Cuomo's life.

Weezer is set to drop their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, on Oct. 7, before heading out to tour shortly after. the band is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut self-titled album, also known as The Blue Album.
