Free-agent forward Shawn Marion is considering signing a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
On Monday Marion visited with the Cavaliers in Cleveland. He hasn’t formally agreed to a deal yet. However that could happen very soon. The Indiana Pacer had tried to persue Marion. He would have been a short-term replacement for the injured Paul George. The Pacers could soon have a $5.3 million disabled player exception that would have allowed them to offer Marion more than the Cavaliers did, according to Yahoo Sports. The Cavaliers have offered Marion the veterans minimum of $1.4 million per season.
Marion is about to enter his 16th season in the NBA. Last year he played for the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game last year, according to NBA.com. Last year he also had a shooting percentage of 48.2. Marion has averaged 15.8 points and nine rebounds in his 15 seasons in the NBA. He is a four-time All-Star.
Marion would be the latest addition to the Cavaliers. He would join Mike Miller, James Jones, and Kevin Love as the latest additions to the Cavaliers. On Wednesday free-agent guard Chauncey Billups worked out for the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers haven’t offered Billups a contract yet.
