Many fairy tales have evil step-mothers, out to thwart the happiness of their stepchildren. On the August 5 episode of The View, Sherri Sherman announced that she has snagged the iconic role of Cinderella’s evil stepmother in the most recent Broadway adaptation of the Rodger + Hammerstein’s award-winning musical.
This news followed the announcement that Keke Palmer has been cast as Cinderella, the first African-American to play the title role on Broadway according to The CelebrityCafe.com. Sherman has been a host on The View for a seven year run that will end at the end of this week. She will then make her Broadway debut on September 9 in the role of Madame as reported by Broadway World.
Along with co-hosting The View, Sherman has acted in numerous television shows, such as 30 Rock, Everybody Loves Raymond and Joan of Arcadia. She also recently competed in a series of Dancing with the Stars, honing dancing skills that are sure to serve her well in the Broadway show of Cinderella.
