On Thursday, FXX started airing every Simpsons episode ever in a 552 episode Simpson marathon. With only day one of the marathon under the networks belt, the FXX ratings tripled, making Thursday the most watched day for the network.

The network gained rights to the show back in November and it seemed to be a great deal for FXX. According to the Boston Herald, within the first three hours of the marathon The Simpsons averaged a 0.49 rating in adults 18-49. Overall views reached to over 1 million.

President of FX Networks, Chuck Saftler, said that while he knew the bringing the show to FXX would be “transformative” to the network, the results were unbelievable. "It is a testament to the power of one of the greatest shows in television history and the genius of Jim Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean and everyone associated with the show,” said Saftler, notes Zap2It.

The Simpsons marathon is set to last 12 days. The first day seemed to bode well for the network so time will tell what the next few days bring in terms of ratings.
