Transformers actress Megan Fox explains why she originally wanted the role of April O’Neil in Paramount Pictures’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Many fans were interested to hear Fox would be starring in the soon-to-be Michael Bay film, due to the duo’s previous issues when they worked together on Transformers. She was casted alongside Will Arnett (The Lego Movie), William Fichtner (The Dark Knight), Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), and Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles) to play April O’Neil, a reporter, in the heroic tale.
Fox recently discussed the reasoning behind originally wanting the part in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, claiming her children played a large part in affirming her decision.
“I wanted to be a superhero for my children,” the actress revealed to USA Today. “They can’t really see Transformers, because it’s too sexualized for them to deal with their mother. That’s their mother bent over the car. We don’t need to go there – maybe ever.”
The much-anticipated Michael Bay film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is premiering in theaters this Friday, August 8th.
