The Atlanta Hawks have resigned power forward Mike Scott to a three-year deal worth $10 million.

Scott, who will be entering his third season in the NBA after being taking by Atlanta with the 43rd overall pick in 2012, was a restricted free agent. Adrian Wojnarowski reported the story after a league source contacted Yahoo! Sports.

Scott has turned himself into a serviceable player, averaging 9.6 point and 3.6 rebounds per game last season. Scott was able to play five years at the University of Virginia, as he was given an extra year of eligibility after missing most of the 2010-2011 season due to an ankle injury. Teams draft talented freshman out of college when they can get them, but there is something to be said about a player who has plenty of college experience.

Scott proved his worth in the Hawks opening round playoff series against the Pacers. The 6'8, powerfully built Scott broke out for 17 points in Game 5 to help give the Hawks a 3-2 series lead; though they would blow the series in seven games.

Though he has a contract, Scott will still have to work hard if he wants to play more than 18.5 minutes a game in 2014-2015. The Hawks used their first round pick this year on another power forward, Adreian Payne out of Michigan State. Mlive.com reported that Payne showed improvement during the end of NBA's summer league.

With Paul Milsap, Al Horford and Scott-- the Hawks should have one of the better front courts in the Eastern Conference.
