Disney has released the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated Into the Woods, an adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical.

Disney released the first teaser photo of a nearly unrecognizable Streep as the Witch back in September of last year. The film will be a mixture of fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel and will also star Johnny Depp,Anna Kendrick, Christine Baranski, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The teaser, which introduces the ensemble cast, comes after Disney released a few more promotional photos on Wednesday.

Entertainment Weekly reports Depp plays the Wolf, James Corden will appear as the Baker with Emily Blunt as the Baker’s Wife, Anna Kendrick is Cinderella and Chris Pine is her Prince.

Sondheim made sure to clear up comments he made that the film is toned down, explaining recently, "I had not yet seen a full rough cut of the movie," when he made the comments.

"Coincidentally, I saw it immediately after leaving the meeting and, having now seen it a couple of times, I can happily report that it is not only a faithful adaptation of the show, it is a first-rate movie,” he said.

The trailer has been release exclusively via iTunes. It gives enough glimpses of these iconic characters to hold fans over, even if Depp's face is hidden.

Into the Woods will hit theaters Christmas Day.
