NBC's decision to move up the Emmy Awards this year and air on a Monday night didn't hurt the network in the ratings in the slightest.
The overnight ratings were the second highest for the awards ceremony over the past eight years, pulling in a 10.9 rating among meter market households, Deadline reports. NBC also pulled in its best Monday in seven years thanks to the move, aimed at avoiding preseason football on Sunday and the MTV VMAs.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 13.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Emmys play out in predictable fashion. The telecast also snagged a strong 3.8 rating in the advertiser-important 18-49 demographic.
The Emmys were down 10 percent from last year's telecast, though that received a boost from its NFL lead-in. In 2013, the ceremony drew 17.6 million viewers and a 4.9 rating in the key demo.
Despite most attention on the night being on the Emmys, original series on the other major networks didn't lose much steam. Under the Dome, Bachelor in Paradise and Mistresses were all pretty consistent with the previous week's numbers with 1.7, 1.3 and 0.9 ratings, respectively.
