Big Brother took the win on a night that dealt with numerous interruptions due to preseason football games and President Barack Obama discussing the situation in Iraq.
While the numbers will certainly deflate, for the moment in fast nationals, CBS took the win with a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.14 million viewers. Just to show inflated the numbers were that due to preaseason coverage leakage, a repeat of Mom averaged a 2.0 rating, Hitfix reports. For the moment Big Brother raked in a 2.7 rating on a night where the network was boosted the most.
NBC followed with a distant 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.8 million viewers. Welcome to Sweden, which was renewed earlier in the week, improved slightly to a 0.8 demo rating, following by Working the Engels which saw better growth to a 0.8 rating. Last Comic Standing also got a boost on the night up to a 1.2 rating.
ABC tied with NBC in the demo and averaged 4.39 million viewers, but likely will be hurt when the ratings are adjusted. According to The Hollywood Reporter, even with interruptions the second episode of new reality series The Quest could only equal its miserable premiere rating of 0.7 in the 18-49 demo. NY Med held steady with a 0.9 rating, as did Rookie Blue at a 1.0 rating.
Fox followed in the rear with a 0.9 rating and 2.91 million viewers, offering only one new original for the night, which is a boosted Gang Related, up to a 0.9 rating.
