Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were pulled over by police Wednesday afternoon when an officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car they were driving in.
The officer found a 20 gram bag of weed in the car, which Bell, Blount, and a female passenger who was with them all claimed ownership of, reports the AP.
All three were arrested and released, though Bell was taking to the hospital to have blood drawn. He is expected to be charged with driving under the influence of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor. All three will be formally charged with possession of marijuana through mail, which is also a misdemeanor.
The Steelers have not said anything on the matter, other than they are aware of what took place, reports ESPN.
The veteran Blount is not making a good impression with his new team, who he signed with after having a breakout season with the Patriots last year. Bell was one of the top rookies in the NFL last season, compiling 1,259 of total yards and scoring eight touchdowns in just 13 games, and can hopefully put this behind him.
