Known as the world’s fastest man, Jamaican track star Usain Bolt set a new record time of 9.98 for the 100m indoors at Warsaw national football stadium on Saturday.
According to Yahoo News, the previous world record holder was Frankie Fredericks from Nambia. In 1996, Fredericks set the record of 10.05.
For Bolt, his last few races have been a comeback after his foot injury in June. As a result of the injury, he was forced to back out of the Diamond League in Paris and the Ostrava Golden Spike Meet.
“Setbacks are a part of track and field. I have come to accept that a long time ago. I had mine, and [I'm] now back in training preparing for the upcoming season,” Bolt said in an interview with The Gleaner.
According to Olympic Talk, Bolt was originally set to race in the Ostrava Golden Spike, which was almost two weeks after the Diamond League. However, he said that he was not prepared.
The next few years leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympics will have Bolt defending his titles.
“I just want to run some fast times and finish the season injury free so I can focus on these three major championships coming up,” Bolt said.
