Just when we were ready to accept its cancellation, the cult sitcom Community came back from the dead on Yahoo. Now, creator Dan Harmon has come out to dispel some casting rumors about the new season, confirming that Alison Brie will be returning after all.
For a few months now, fans have been worried about the rumor that Alison Brie would not return to the show. These rumors started in part when Brie was the only cast member not to comment on the Season 6 renewal on Twitter. She also did not appear at Comic-Con, and then in an interview with The Huffington Post, she mentioned she wasn't sure about returning, saying the details weren't worked out yet.
Then, as Uproxx reported on yesterday, Community writer Ryan Ridley responded to a question about if Brie would be returning by saying he wasn't sure yet.
Now, Dan Harmon has officially confirmed on Twitter that Alison Brie will be returning to the show.
With Alison Brie on board, this means that all of the main cast will be returning to Community, which was picked up for a sixth season by Yahoo and will be streaming exclusively online.
It's still unclear if Jonathan Banks and John Oliver will be appearing in the sixth season, though they were both prominent parts of the previous season. Banks will be appearing in the upcoming Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul, and Oliver is now busy with his HBO series, Last Week Tonight. However, according to Screen Rant, Dan Harmon noted that it was "contractually possible" for Oliver to appear while still doing his HBO show.
