Now entering the world of comedy, Ariana Grande will help kick off the 40th season of Saturday Night Live as a musical guest. With her two breakout hits, “Break Free” and “Problem,” it was clear that Ariana Grande would do justice to her name, by becoming a huge (Grande) celebrity. With all this success in such a short period of time, it makes a fan wonder: where has she been hiding?

Before Grande had stepped into her well-deserved lime light, she was simply a co-star to Victoria Justice on the popular Nickelodeon sitcom, Victorious . Here, she played Cat, a naïve and ditsy friend to Victoria (Victoria Justice). Throughout the sitcom, Victoria and her friends would find themselves in crazy situations between the classes at their performing arts school. Occasionally, Grande would receive her chance to show off her chops, but no one could have guessed that her attendance at this fictional performing arts school would actually foreshadow the triumph of her as a performer. However, in an interview, Seventeen Magazine revealed that there were problems between Grande and an unidentified cast member. The bubbly pop star was quoted saying, “I worked with someone who told me they’d never like me. But for some reason, I just felt like I needed her approval. So I started changing myself to please her. It made me stop being social and friendly. I was so unhappy.”

Clearly, unhappiness didn’t stop the determined diva, because spin off show, Sam and Cat, followed. Co-starring next to I-Carly’s Janette McCurdy, Ariana Grande was able to once again prove her talent.
As NBC has announced, the season premiere of Saturday Night Live will be on Sept. 27, giving us yet another opportunity to see Grande come out with a “Bang Bang.”
