Are you missing Chevy Chase on your TV sets? Well, he may soon be returning on ABC and taking his National Lampoon’s Vacation co-star Beverly D’Angelo with him.

The project was first announced back in January, but little has been heard about it until Friday afternoon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the alphabet network has just handed out a script commitment and Brad Copeland - whose credits include My Name Is Earl and Arrested Development - has been hired to write that script.

The sitcom is still untitled, but will focus on a couple suddenly tasked with raising their grandchildren. Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment is producing and Kaplan and Copeland are executive producers.

D’Angelo and Chase are expected to reprise their Vacation roles with a cameo in the New Line reboot of the franchise, starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate.
Chase was most recently seen on NBC’s Community, but had a falling out with creator Dan Harmon and left that show. If this ABC project happens, it will be the legendary comedian’s first TV role since then.

As for D’Angelo, she had a role on Entourage and was last seen in Kaplan’s short-lived CBS sitcom Friends With Better Lives. Kaplan also has another comedy set up at ABC.

The Chase-D’Angelo series is being targeted for a 2015-2016 debut. No other casting has been made.
