DC Comics and Warner Bros. TV are actively looking to develop a television series based around the Supergirl property.
The project is still in the early stages, but sources confirmed with E! News that the project is currently being shopped with Greg Berlanti on board to executive produce alongside Ali Adler.
While Berlanti currently is an executive producer on Arrow and the upcoming series The Flash, any Supergirl project would likely land on another network besides The CW.
According to Deadline, the TV series would feature a new interpretation on both the character and story of Supergirl.
The project is still in early development and no name has been chosen. Adler will write the script in addition to exec producing and Geoff Johns from DC is said to be involved somehow.
Supergirl made her first appearance back in 1959, with Al Plastino designing the character created by Otto Binder.
The news of a possible Supergirl project comes as more fans are calling on both DC Comics and Marvel to bring more female superheroes to both the silver and small screens.
