Denzel Washington shocked fans everywhere, when Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” Chat revealed his interest in being the next James Bond. He has certainly proven his capabilities throughout his career in films such as Glory and Training Day, but was the 59-year old actor telling the truth or just being a tease?

Reddit.com, being the host of the “ask me anything” chat with Washington, was able to publicize his response to the 007 inquiry as, “The next James Bond? They better hurry up! Yes I would!”

“Who's doing James Bond now. Daniel Craig! Did they shoot another one,” Washington asked, “Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond! Send it to the studio! We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today!”

Clearly, his unavoidable number of questions and use of exclamation points shows a slight interest in the idea, but no one is quite sure of Washington’s sincerity on the matter. However, there is no doubt that the Instagram campaign, featuring a DenzelIsJamesBond Hashtag, will bring a ton of attention to the subject.

Although the gossip of the next James Bond created a lot of hype, it seems as though Daniel Craig will remain in his current position as James Bond. The NY Daily News highlighted the commitment, Craig made, to the next two Bond movies following 2012’s Skyfall.

It was exciting to think that Denzel could be the very first black James Bond. Although there was slight disappointment, due to the rejection, there is always a possibility that producers could change their mind. After all, we are talking about Washington, Denzel Washington.
