Figuring out how to tip 15 percent of your bill is difficult for some, but for NFL player LeSean McCoy, it was easier not to do the math.
The Philadelphia Eagles running back left only a 20 cent tip to his waiter while visiting PYT, a burger joint in Philadelphia, on Monday, according to Bleacher Report. The restaurant took to Facebook to show a picture of the football player’s receipt.
“The twenty cent tip that the Eagles' LeSean McCoy just left our server on his $60 check is going to come in really handy for that new official NFL McCoy jersey he had his heart set on,” The restaurant wrote on the photo’s caption. “That is a .03% tip. New record!”
Les Bowen, a sports reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News who is currently covering the Eagles, took to Twitter to debunk the reasoning for the tip.
“Asked LeSean McCoy about the restaurant receipt thing,” Bowen said in a post. ““It’s bull****, man,” he said. Declined request to elaborate,”
In a separate post, Bowen said that by his understanding, McCoy did not tip as greatly because he did not have great service.
“But [he] wishes he’d handled it differently,” Bowen added.
As of Tuesday, McCoy has not publicly commented on the matter.
According to Bleacher Report, the restaurant in question has not received positive reviews and only holds three stars on the restaurant rating site Yelp.
With Shady being his nickname, people on Twitter have expressed their opinions on the subject matter.
McCoy has been playing for the Eagles since 2009, where he was picked during the second round of the NFL Draft from the University of Pittsburgh, where he also played running back.
