It has finally arrived: Week One of the 2014 NFL Season where hope springs eternal and nobody's dreams of capturing your league's shiny trophy are yet crushed.
With the NFL season comes millions of fantasy seasons. No week presents the challenges that Week One does. The lack of information we have about the outlook of these teams is scarce, and wacky things tend to happen.
Here is TheCelebrityCafe's Start em, Sit em for Week One:
Start em:
Frank Gore - RB-SF (at DAL)
One reason: The putrid Dallas Cowboys defense. Of all 32 NFL teams, the Cowboys defense leads the pack in worst possible unit in the league. They lost Demarcus Ware to the Broncos, and LB Sean Lee continues to struggle with injuries. While Gore is slipping in productivity and is nowhere a RB1 anymore, he should be able to turn back the clock today.
Nick Foles - QB-PHI (vs JAX)
Chip Kelly has his offense ready once again for a shocking offensive season. What they showcased in the pre-season is nowhere near the things he has ready to unleash now. Foles will cut-up the Jacksonville defense today. Look for 3 TD's and over 300 yards through the air.
Jay Cutler - QB-CHI (vs BUF)
The best way to view Week One is to target the teams that seem to have negativity within the organization. Nowhere is that more evident than in Buffalo right now. Ownership brought in veteran Kyle Orton this past week which has brought on reports that head coach Doug Marrone is now unhappy and disgruntled. Cutler should be on par for a nice day against a descent Buffalo defense.
Sit em:
Cam Newton - QB-CAR (at TB)
This is an easy one. When broken ribs and a mobile QB fall in the same sentence, it doesn't take a genius to realize that could cause some issues. Cam needs his running game to be an effective Fantasy QB, and if he is hesitant at all to run because of the injury, then watch-out for disappointment. Look to start another QB and give Cam a week to see what he has.
Maurice Jones Drew - RB-OAK (at NYJ)
Two names here to note: Mohammed Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson. These are the beasts that will plug the holes MJD will be looking to scamper through. If you have any viable option on the bench, throw him in and wait until Week 2 to start MJD.
Mike Wallace - WR-MIA (at NE)
Sit Wallace this week. Darrelle Revis will be following him all game, and Wallace will quickly remember that "Revis Island" is nowhere to be found.
