Lily Collins has revealed that she was in the running for a starring role on CW’s hit teen drama Gossip Girl back in 2006.
Lily Collins is now a well known film actress who has starred in critically acclaimed films like The Blindside alongside Sandra Bullock and major blockbusters like The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
However, Us Weekly reports Collins revealed that she had hoped for a different kind of starring role a few years ago.
“I tested for Gossip Girl,” the 25-year-old actress announced in a new interview with Marie Claire. She wanted a spot on the show particularly badly and admitted she was devastated by her rejection from the cast. “I thought at the time it was the end of the world.”
However, Collins recognized how far she has come in the face of that rejection. In fact, she would not have had the opportunities she’d been granted in place of a leading spot on Gossip Girl. "Now I think, 'Well I would have got pigeon-holed, have had to move to New York, leave high school and be signed away for six years," Collins said. "I wouldn't have done the films I've done, and everything would have been so different."
Collins is currently working on a film titled How to Be Single, which is set for release in 2016.
