Michael C. Hall will be stepping in to fill the lead role in Broadway’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch, once performed by Neil Patrick Harris and Andrew Rannells.

Hall, best known for his role in Showtime’s Dexter, will start his run on Oct. 16 and go through Jan. 4.

Although he’s most recognized for his television roles, Hall does have Broadway experience. He made his debut as an understudy in 1996’s Skylight and went on to play the Emcee in Cabaret in 1999, Daily News reports.

Most recently, he appeared in The Realistic Joneses.

Harris won a Best Actor Tony award for his role as the transgender singer in June. The play also won for Best Revival of a Musical among others.

According to USA Today, Rannells’ last show as Hedwig is on Oct. 12, making way for Hall’s adaptation of the character just a couple days later.

Since Rannells took over for Harris, the show’s box office has seen a significant decline. The show’s ticket sales were down $100,000 last week since the week before. When he was first announced as taking over for Harris, the release never mentioned he would only be in the role for eight weeks.

“Our agreement with Andrew was always for eight weeks, and I am super excited about having Michael C. Hall take over,” lead producer David Binder told Deadline.
