The New York State Department of Health is investigating Yorkville Endoscopy, the Manhattan clinic where comedian Joan Rivers was undergoing throat surgery last week. Rivers stopped breathing and was only taken out of the intensive care unit at Mount Sinai yesterday.

James O'Hare, a spokesman for the agency, confirmed the investigation to the New York Daily News. “The State Health Department is investigating the matter,” he said, offering no further detail.

“It’s a full investigation of the matter… Since it’s an ongoing investigation I can’t comment on what we’re looking at,” an official also told Fox News.

As previously reported, the 81-year-old Fashion Police co-host was rushed to the hospital after undergoing throat surgery at the Yorkville. She stopped breathing and went into a coma. On Wednesday, her daughter, Melissa Rivers, said that Rivers was moved to a private room.

“My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support,” Melissa said.

E! has said that it is putting all Fashion Police production on hold as Rivers remains hospitalized.
