New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski announced on Monday that he will be playing on Sunday for the first game of the season.

Gronkowski knew he'd be dealing with questions all week about his availability before the Patriots' first game against the Miami Dolphins, so he simply nipped that right in the bud. "I'm good to go," he revealed, ESPN reports. "I'll be playing."

He made it clear he was excited to go out there and finally play after missing the entire preseason, but noted it wouldn't be likely he'd play too much.

"Definitely not [playing] every single snap," Gronkowski said. "But just get out there, get my feet wet, whatever coaches have, whatever we game-plan this week will be good."

The tight end is still coming back from a right ACL injury and noted he would probably wear a brace on his knee during the game.

Gronkowski tore the ACL last season in Week 14 and had surgery on Jan. 9, according to USA Today. He has also had to deal with several other injuries throughout the past two seasons, including forearm, back and ankle issues.

He only played in seven games for the Patriots last season, but still managed 592 yards, 39 catches and four touchdowns.
