Some new faces will be appearing in guest roles in the second season of Showtime's Penny Dreadful, including Patti LuPone, Douglas Hodge and Sarah Greene.

The premium cable network renewed the horror drama back in June after when it was only halfway through its eight-episode first season run.

The renewal wasn't too surprising given that Penny Dreadful averaged 4.8 million viewers across all viewing platforms on a weekly basis.

With the freshman season over, Showtime has begun filling out the cast to appear in the sophomore season. LuPone, Green, Hodge and Jonny Beauchamp were added, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while recurring actors Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Bealle will return as series regulars.

While it hasn't been revealed what roles Greene and the other two will play in the second season, LuPone will play a mysterious person who Eva Green's character Vanessa knew a long time ago.

Production on the 10-episode series will start this month, with filming in Dublin. Penny Dreadful will return in 2015.
